How to get to Patagonia

Chilean Patagonia: If you're aiming for the Chilean side, your main entry points are typically Santiago or Punta Arenas.

From Santiago, you can catch domestic flights to Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales, which serve as gateways to Torres del Paine and other southern destinations.

If you prefer overland travel, you can take buses or drive from Santiago to southern Patagonia. This journey offers stunning landscapes but requires time and planning.

Argentinian Patagonia: For the Argentinian side, Buenos Aires or El Calafate are the common entry points.

Overland travel from Buenos Aires to Patagonia is possible, with buses and rental cars offering flexibility.

Transportation Within Patagonia:

  • Flights: Domestic flights within Patagonia can save time and offer breathtaking aerial views. Regional airlines like LATAM , SKY, Aerolineas Argentinas operate routes within the region.

  • Buses: Extensive bus networks connect major towns and cities in both Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia. While slower, buses are often a more affordable option.

  • Car Rental: Renting a car provides flexibility, especially for exploring remote areas. However, be prepared for long distances and variable road conditions.

Getting to Patagonia may require some effort, but the journey is part of the adventure. Embrace the stunning landscapes, vibrant cultures, and unforgettable experiences along the way.

How to Elope in Patagonia

If you are looking to legally elope and get married in Patagonia, there are a multitude of things to consider. Chile and Argentina have differing requirements. Regardless of whether you choose to marry in Chilean or Argentinian Patagonia, I would recommend contacting the local authorities familiar with the area to understand the specific requirements and procedures for getting married. Additionally, consider consulting with a lawyer or legal expert to ensure that all necessary paperwork is in order to avoid any complications.

Symbolic Marriage: Because of the potential complexities, we suggest for couples to get the legal marriage paperwork in their home country then experience a symbolic ceremony in Patagonia! eg. private vows, rings and photos, etc! Many travelling couples opt for symbolic marriage. Don’t worry, it is just as much of a wedding say regardless if you are signing the piece of paper that day or not. Symbolic marriages removes many barriers of stress so you can enjoy the day.
